Self-Service Kiosk Market Overview
Driven by growing demand for contactless services, the need to reduce labor costs, and the
acceleration of digital transformation, the domestic and global self-service kiosk markets are
experiencing rapid growth. With the integration of new technologies such as artificial
intelligence, kiosks are evolving beyond simple payment terminals into personalized service
platforms. According to global research firm Technavio, Korea’s kiosk market, valued at KRW 697
billion in 2022, is projected to reach KRW 1 trillion by 2027. The number of kiosks installed
nationwide surged 155%, from 210,033 units in 2021 to 536,602 units in 2023.
On the demand side, photo kiosks with instant printing, cloud storage, and SNS sharing features
are gaining popularity. They are increasingly used in theme parks, shopping malls, and event
spaces as interactive photo experiences that boost customer engagement and sales. Looking ahead,
both domestic and international markets are expected to see wider web and mobile integration,
stronger SNS-linked marketing, and the adoption of AI-powered editing features, all of which
will play key roles in improving user experience and revenue growth.
